| Comme son nom le laisse aisément deviner, Boing! n'est pas vraiment un jeu de haute stratégie. Le principe en est simple et original: une cinquantaine de billes, de quatre couleurs différentes, sont posées sur le dessus d'un bidon. Chaque joueur à son tour frappe ensuite sur le côté du bidon avec un maillet de bois, le but étant de faire tomber les billes adverses dans le trou central tout en conservant les siennes propres. Le dernier à avoir une bille hors du trou gagne la partie. Tous les joueurs, de cinq à cinquante ans, auxquels je l'ai fait essayer ont été emballés par ce jeu idiot.
Bien que Boing! ait déjà eu cinq ans, ce n'est qu'en 2001 que je l'ai découvert, au salon d'Essen. En effet, le jeu était injustement passé inaperçu lors de sa sortie, l'éditeur ayant disparu peu après. L'auteur a alors racheté le stock et le vend maintenant pour son compte (voir sur son site, espenlaub). Le petit club des inconditionnels de Boing - Hervé et Adrien, surtout - qui s'est vite créé dans mon entourage m'a réclamé un tournoi de Boing aux VIIIèmes rencontres ludopathiques. Ne pouvant demander à un auteur indépendant de m'offrir les jeux du tournoi, comme j'ai coutume de le faire avec les plus gros éditeurs, j'ai donc commandé un pack de douze Boing, et le tournoi fut un grand moment - comme le montrent les images qui illustrent cette page. |
You can guess from the name, and from a look at the pic, that Boing! is not exactly a strategy game. The idea is very simple: 50 marbles in four different colors are placed on the top of a tin ca. Each player on turn hits the can with a wooden hammer, and tries to throw opponent marbles in the central hole, whil keeping his own marbles on the can. The last player with a marble on the can wins. I've played this one with many players, from young childrens to very serious businessmen, and all were enthralled.
Though Boing! is now five years old, I discovered it only in 2001, at the Essen fair. The game had gone unfairly unnoticed when published by FX Schmid in 1996, and now the author has bought the stock and sells the game by himself (you can contact him on his website, espenlaub). Some Boing! enthusiasts - namely Hervé and Adrien - fostered me until I accepted to hold a Boing! tournament at the next Ludopathic Gathering. The problem is that I usually try to get the tournament games for free from the publishers, but that though it makes no real problem with a big publisher, I could not ask for the same from a single man company. I could, however, afford to order a pack of 12 Boing!, and the tournament was a hit - as can be seen from the pics on this page.
