| Sans doute l'un des rares jeux de société modernes originaires de Chine - la version que je possède est éditée à Hong Kong - Gang of Four (La bande des quatre) est également une variante du classique jeu du trouduc. Mais là ou Le Grand Dalmuti prenait le parti de la simplicité et de la légèreté, Gang of Four fait le choix inverse, celui de la richesse. La principale originalité de Gang of Four est en effet dans les nombreuses combinaisons de cartes possibles, venues pour l'essentiel du poker. Le fait que chaque carte puisse être utilisée dans différents types de combinaisons - du type suite, couleur ou paire, brelan, carré - introduit des choix tactiques bien plus complexes que dans le jeu original. Attention cependant: comme le jeu de trouduc original, Gang of Four ne fonctionne réellement bien qu'à quatre joueurs.
Quelle que soit l'édition de ce jeu que vous parviendrez à vous procurer - j'ai la boite de Hong Kong, elle fait des jaloux - les cartes ont un look délicieusement chinois qui ajoute beaucoup à son charme. |
Gang of Four is probably one of the very few modern card games originating from China - the box I have was published in Hong Kong. Gang of Four is nothing more than another variant of the classical chinese card game known in the west as Asshole, or peasant/king. But while the Great Dalmuti focused on the fun and light aspects of the game, Gang of Four makes the opposite choice, improving the complexity and the tactical aspects of the game. The main change here is that the cards can be used in different kinds of suits, more or less all possible poker hands. So you can not only play two, three or four of a kind, but also straights and flushes, which makes for some tricky tactical choices. Like the original asshole game, Gang of Four can be played only with three or four players, and works best with four.
There has been many editions of this game, but in all of them the cards have a a chinese look that adds a little more to the charm of the game.
