Fin 2006, un certain... Greg Stafford
a commencé à intervenir régulièrement
sur le forum consacré à La Vallée des
Mammouths. J'ai débord cru à un gag, ou à une
coincidence, mais il s'agissait bien du seul Greg Stafford,
le grand shaman du jeu rôles, le démiurge de
Glorantha. C'est lui qui, avec son collègue Don Frew, a
conçu
l'extension, composé de
quelques cartes et éléments de terrain.

Late 2006, a gamer
named... Greg Stafford started to post on the Valley of the
Mammoths forum. I first thought it was a gag, or a coincidence,
but it was the one true Greg Stafford, the grand shaman of
role playing games, the demiurge of Glorantha. With his friend
Don Frew, Greg designed a small expansion, a few new cards
and terrain elements, that was published in 2008 - but
only in french, at least for the moment.

boite, elle contient de nombreuses nouvelles cartes astuces
et événements,
huit terrains particuliers destinés à recouvrir
des hexagones du plateau de jeu, tels le désert, les marais
ou le glacier, et quelques nouveaux pions, tels les néanderthaliens
et le mystérieux yeti. |
In a small box, the
expansion includes many new fate and event cards, eight special
terrain hexes, such as desert, swamp and glacier, designed to
cover existing hexes on the board. There will also be new tokens,
such as neanderthalians and the mysterious yeti. |

C'est Laurent Escoffier, déjà auteur
de plusieurs jeux de société, parmi lesquels
l'excellent Pogo, qui a remporté le concours de création
de carte sur le thème du Yeti, avec l'événement
d'Hiver suivant :
Ciel, mon Yeti !
Pour chaque prochaine naissance de guerrier dans une grotte,
on relance un dé : s’il indique 1, le nouveau-né est
un yéti ! Il jette toute la tribu dehors. Celle-ci perd
son camp et va sur la case adjacente de son choix. Le yéti
reste sur sa montagne et y combat avec +2. Sa chasse rapporte
2 points.
Bravo à laurent, qui a gagné, entre
autres, un jambon de pays et une illustration de Gérard
Mathieu - sans doute le yeti lui-même.

won the Yeti card design contest, with the following submission

For everyn birth of a warrior in a cave this winter, roll a die.
On a roll of 1, the new born is a fierce yeti. The yeti expels
the whole tribe out of the cave, on a neighbouring space.
The yeti stays in the cave and fights at +2. It is worth
2 food points.
Congrats to Laurent who won, among
other stuff, a country ham and a drawing by Gérard Mathieu
- probably the yeti himself.
